Rant #1 Now this is a letter I recieved from link exchange and my answer to it which was a waste of my time. If any of you have been to my site, you will have noticed that I am not a big nudity or gore fan, so what's their problem? Now here is their letter.. From: admin@linkexchange.com To: darkester@hotmail.com Subject: LinkExchange Account #**** Date: Wed, 12 Apr 2000 09:45:12 -0700 (PDT) Thank you for your interest in participating in the LinkExchange advertising network. Unfortunately, we are not able to accept your site. After reviewing your site, we feel that it is inappropriate for inclusion in our network at this time. We do not advertise for subjects such as: unsolicited mass mailing, recreational drug use, illegal lotteries, pyramid schemes, death galleries, racism and hate. Please review the Terms and Conditions for more information. http://www.linkexchange.com/help/longterms.html If you decide to change your page to meet our terms and conditions, or if you feel you have received this message in error, please notify admin@linkexchange.com so we can review your account. Thank you, LinkExchange Quality Assurance Team Now here is mt reply: Now, to whomever it may concern.. I have had an account with your firm since Feb, 1997. I have always had the content I have on my site and then I get a letter like this from you. What does this mean, you are cancelling my account? This is really sad that you come to me with this meaningless letter telling me "We do not advertise for subjects such as: unsolicited mass mailing, recreational drug use, illegal lotteries, pyramid schemes, death galleries, racism and hate." So tell me where any of this stuff is at my site? I run an online web promotion business. If you are telling me that you are cancelling me after over 3 years, then so be it and I will save this rediculous letter to show to everyone who visits my site. Maybe more people need to know about your rediculous policy with people. Need I say anything more about these bozos. What they don't understand is that there is enough banner exchanges on the web now giving people a 1 to 1 ratio of banner exposure instead of their rediculous 1 to 2 ratio. You don't have to be stupid to figure this one out. The point is who needs Link Exchange and their idiotic outdated BS. Damien Webmaster d.a.r.f.e.a.r.d.o.t.c.o.m http://darkfear.com On that note, why go with these bozos when you can do better? |

Rant #2 It appears that Ulitimate Topsites has deleted my Topsites account (Darksites of the Web) without explanation. They had 2 classes of membership, adult and general. If you put your account in the "adult" category, you end up with explicit porn ads on your site. Well I am not into pornography so I had my account in their geeneral category as I have always listed "dark" sites. Well these bastards just delete you without warning and therefore I have no way to contact those who had been listed with me to let theem know. I recommend not doing business with these paranoid assholes unless you want to take the same chance. My apologies to all who were listed on Dark Sites of the Web which now no longer is. One this note, I have also noticed that I am not alone, I know of others they have done the same shit to. Girl Gone Mad lost her account as well and she had one of the tamest accounts with them. Damien Webmaster d.a.r.f.e.a.r.d.o.t.c.o.m http://darkfear.com WIth that, they are like any greedy money making scum who have no regard for anyone. It all comes down to that delete button with them when you have their power over people. Well my friends, there are alternatives and I shall list one here: http://new.topsitelists.com/topsites These guys are good, and you don't get any shit from them. I have both the Dark Top 100 and the vampire Church Top 50 with them. Of course the best alternative at avoiding being canned, is to get and install your own script. This I could do, but as in all things, first I have to get off my lazy ass and find the time. Lesson here is I shall. |
